Larry  was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa during the turbulence of Apartheid. He has traveled extensively in Southern Africa, Central America and time spent in Israel, Europe and the Far East. He has dealt with multiple personal threat situations in high risk destinations. He became a lifetime student of personal safety and crime avoidance after surviving several assaults. His sense of situational awareness and personal security were heightened after an attempted home invasion and as a witness to political unrest and rioting during the 1976 Soweto uprisings.

Larry’s life experiences allow him to bring a real world civilian perspective to the issue of personal safety. He founded the Personal Safety Training Group in 2006. Larry’s primary focus since 2009 has been on safety programs for high risk travel and lone workers working in metropolitan and rural settings.

Previously Larry spent 10 years in health care after he received his Doctorate in Chiropractic.  He completed his undergraduate coursework at the University of Florida, Gainesville and his practice had a strong concentration in sports injuries, injury prevention, ergonomics and workplace safety. He also provided forensic evaluations (med/legal) as a consultant to workers compensation insurers and third party administrators related to up-coding, over utilization, questionable billing practices, necessity of care and material misrepresentation. Kaminer was also a Qualified Medical Examiner, State of California; Worker’s Compensation Division (uncontested claims) and was also called upon as an Agreed Medical Examiner in contested workers compensation cases.

Mike B: Safety Training Expert – San Diego

Mike brings invaluable experience to the company, subsequent to a seven year career in law enforcement. Mike earned an Associate of Science Degree in The Administration of Justice from West Valley College. He started his career as a sworn peace officer in 1989 with the California Highway Patrol where he served for five years. In 1994 he began working for the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety as both a Police Officer and Firefighter for two-and-a-half years. He enlisted in the Navy in 1996 and served our country as a U.S. Navy SEAL for eight-and-a-half years. He has conducted counter-terrorist operations throughout the world, including combat tours in Iraq and the Philippines. As a Special Operations Hospital Corpsman and team medic, Mike also brings expertise to the medical aspect of travel safety and preparedness.

Toby Deaton — High Risk Environment Specialist/ Content Consultant 

Toby draws from over twelve years of progressive experience in various aspects of high risk environment training and advising. Currently he provides training and consultation in areas of hostage survival, apprehension/abduction avoidance, emergency action planning, and situational awareness to a wide range of clientele, including private sector corporations, federal government agencies, and the Department of Defense. As a veteran of the US Air Force, he gained unique experience as a SERE Specialist (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape), wherein he trained thousands of high risk military personnel to operate confidently in hostile environments and coordinated combat search and rescue (personnel recovery) for a Joint Special Operations Task Force.  During his travels he’s been to the Middle East, South Asia, Central and South America. For two years, he provided intelligence and investigative assistance on an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force and a Safe Streets Task Force. He has a master’s degree with a concentration in homeland security and emergency management and undergraduate degrees focused on terrorism and political violence.
